Weekly classes for the summer!

Schools out for the summer! Since I have the summer off so I will be having weekly classes for stamping for most of the summer! Check out my calendar and sign up for classes by either e-mailing me or calling me at 315-727-7288! Here is a link to what we will be doing this week on Wednesday from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM.

Below are the projects we did last Friday!

This week we created diorama cards. These cards are a lot of fun and really not as much work as you would think!

Here is Pam's card. She is a seasoned stamper and I always love her ideas she created a sense of a round campfire by placing the fire in the second layer! It's just tooooo stinkin cute!

Next Up is Pam's Mom Thelma a beginning stamper. She was a bit nervous when starting but got right into it and added the lovely flags when she was finished to a create a breezy (sorry can't help myself) effect!

Last up is Jan . She is most definitely an expert stamper. I marvel at her patience. she can sit and cut out the tiniest detail! you have been treated to her work before and I think she needs to become a demo she is sooooooooo talented! Love the little raccoon cooking the beans!

If you enjoyed these projects why not join me in a class or schedule a workshop and request a project you like here. Email me at vkillmore@gmail.com or call me at 315 727 7288
have a wonderful weekend! Virginia

An old card but a remake of it

Since I joined the Late Night Stampers design team not only have I been having a lot of fun but I am also very excited by my improvement in stamping. I have a bit of a big ego!(my husband would say a really large one) The cards I have been making over the last few years were nice, but because I no regularly make and post close to 4 or 5 cards a week my sstandards are higher. I really work harder to make a better card. So being on the Late Night Stampers design team has also improved my work, (i told you I had a bit of an ego) an unintended consequences! Don't you just love the added bonus!.
Right now over at
Late Night Stampers they are creating a call for new designers to join the team. Check out this post if you are interested it has been a joyous as well as a great learning experience for me and I am so excited to continue through till September Yoo Hooo!

Now for today's card. I made this card back in October of last year and I thought it would be cute for this weeks challenge over at
Late Night Stampers. So I updated it and added some different features and my favorite new tip is part of it.

How many times have you tried either a new stamp or one with a lot of surface area only to be disappointed after the first time you use it. You get a bad stamped area or some areas are un even. Well here is a great tip.

  1. Start by rubbing you stamp in a circular motion on a dry sheet of computer paper.
  2. Do this approximately 10 to 12 times in a circular motion.
  3. Look at the stamp and blow off any residual that may have lingered.
  4. Then got to your stamp pad and pat, pat, pat!
  5. Check before you stamp to make sure you have not missed a spot and stamp on a scrap of computer paper.
  6. Hold down for the count of one thousand one, one thousand two till you get to one thousand five.
  7. Make sure to firmly contact your paper and slightly wiggle the stamp.
  8. This process makes sure you get good adhesion and the time the rubber spends sitting on the paper give the paper a chance to absorb the ink.
  9. Pull away and If you like what you see move forward to the cardstock. If you don't follow all the steps again till you are happy with your image.
It is a little extra work but it is so helpful

it is interesting to me that by the time a stamp and pad makes it around to all that are in a
workshop the last few have the best images. It's not that they are particularly talented but the stamp has had the time to become primed. So when you are at home stamp a few on scrap paper! That's my tip of the day

Supplies

Paper Bella blue DSP, Pretty in Pink, and Whisper White cardstock
Ink Pretty in Pink, Bordaring Blue, Certainly celery
Stamps Wild about you, Nursey neccesities
Accesories Scallop Sizzix Die, Circle punch, White siglo get pen, Pretty in Pink Ribbon

Wild about you Stamp set is the one below and can be found if you go to shopping spot on my website. This set retires in two short weeks. So get it now before they are gone gone gone!

Thanks for looking Virginia!

Gift card

Hello Last week at our stamp ten club we made a gift card. It is such an easy project and a great thing to have around. I used Stampin' Up's Parisian Breeze DSP and it was a snap. If you use card stock you can get 2 gift cards out of one piece of 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper.

You cut the card stock length wise at 4 1/4. Score the paper at 2 3/4, 5 1/2 and 8 1/4. Using punches you will cut out the hole to insert gift card. I found a great tutorial that makes a similar card. It is by Julie Buhler. Her website is awesome. Her tutorial is very similar to the way I made my card just the measurements are not quite the same so to get a card like mine follow the measurements above but this tutorial will help visualize the process.

Supplies,

Paper-Parisian Breeze DSP, Baha Breeze, Kraft
Ink - Baha Breeze
Stamps - So many scallops
Accessories - Flower fusion II, Baha Breeze Ribbon, Ice square rhinestones, Square Scallop, Word window, and 1 inch circle Punch

This week is my and Dacia's turn to host the swap at latenight stampers . It will be challenge 23. If you want to see the retiring sets there are lists on my side bar, just a few short weeks left to purchase. You can purchase here at my Stampin'Up Web site here is the great grad set

More Embossing

I love embossing because there are so many ways to use it. In this card I used clear embossing powder to create a background. I started bu using versa mark to ink the toile background stamp then use clear embossing powder emboss. It permanently keeps the areas that are stamped white. I then used a brayer and a dauber to add pinks and reds and greens to the areas I wanted to change. it is a very fun technique and the same one I used for the first two cards I showed you this week.
Don't forget all the great specials right now. If you host a $200 party you get an extra $20.00 in extra product. To see retiring sets and find out more click here.

Another Embossed Card

Another embossed card for latenight stampers challenge 22. this card started out as the throw away one. You know you aren't sure you like the process so you do one that you plan to throw away. I ended up liking this one almost as much as the one I showed you yesterday. The difference being that I stamped the flower in pumpkin pie and then using a versa mark ink pen I colored the flower and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I actually like the brayering on this one better.

Embossing Technique

This week at latenight stampers the site went down during the weekend, but we set up a new group and are up and running again and this week our Challenge is to create a card using an embossing technique. I saw this technique a while back and thought I would try my hand at it so here it is. Thanks for looking Virginia

Supplies

Paper Not Quite navy, Whisper White, Kiwiw Kiss

Stamps Inspired by Nature, Sanded, 24/7

Ink Not Quite navy, Certainly Celery, Kiwi Kiss, Pretty in Pink, lavendar lace, Baha Breeze

Accessories Kiwi Kiss Ribbon, Stamping dimensionals, and Designer seris label, Largest oval punch punches, Versa mark, clear embssing powder, heat tool, brayer

Some of you you have asked for this technique. I found the video instructions for this technique here Stamper Dog . It is done by stamping the grases in kiwi kiss on whisper white cardstock. using some slight residue on my sanded stamp I rubbed the card front to get a slight texture. Then using versamark I stamped the flower and embossed it using clear embossing powder. then brayered the card with the inks listed above from lighest to the darkest. thank for looking virginia

Don't forget the links for the retiring items can be found here and the accessories on sale are flying out the door so Click here to place your order.
