Changing a small detail!

Wow last night I was perusing some of my favorite blogs and came across a tutorial by Jan Tinks for a card that has a magic aperture opening. It was really neat and I thought what if the opening for the card I made yesterday worked in a similar fashion. If I followed Jan's directions my opening would have the candy falling out the back. Not what I wanted. But if I adjusted how the card opened I could make it so the card would open on the inside. More of what I was looking for. Well I tinkered this afternoon and lookie here what I came up with! A card that magically opens on the inside! I will try and write a tutorial for you shortly but I wanted to Show you the card first.

The card appears to have a balloon in the front. I was inspired by a card that Gretchen Barron Made. When you open it up the tab in the center slides open a holel for your candy to come out of!

Here is a quick video of the how the card works!

Convention Swaps!

Convention is amazing the swaps classes I get and see are so wonderful!

Theses are from a shoe box swap I did at convention. A shoe box swap is a swap where you bring everything you need to make a card somewhat pre cut and participants assemble the card. Here are three cards I made from the swap! Sorry I don't have names If you designed any of the cards please let me know so I can give credit!

First one up uses The medallion stamp as well as En Francais! Such a pretty layout I only wish I had secured the ribbon better! LOL

Next up is a beauty in Pretty in Pink and Soft Suede. I love the idea of using the stamp to create the background a real stunner if I do say so myself! (he he I only put it together)

Last one up is designed by my stamping buddy Mary Kay! I love the layout I just need to work on placement! a bit crooked! I just get so excited at these swaps to get all my cards done! LOL

Color Combination Helper!

Wow have you ever gotten stumped trying to choose a color combination? I found the coolest color helper. It will help you come up with great color combinations for your paper crafting. I liked it so much that I will create a link to it on the right hand side of my blog . Here are the directions.

Instructions
1. Choose a color you want to work with and click on it. That color will pop-up in one of the squares on the top right.

2. Now you can either hit search to get ALL the combos in the database with your chosen color in them, OR you can chose another color.

3. You may chose up to 4 different colors to search for. The more colors you chose, the fewer results you'll get back.

4. Now go take your combo and make a fantastic project!

Notes: There is no meaning to the order of the colors in the combos, they are just listed however they were entered into the database.

There is no color theory to the combos, they are just combos that I've collected and other people have entered. Some might follow the color "rules" but that really isn't what this is all about. I had my DH make this so I could see how colors would look together before I cut into my expensive CS.

The random button will produce a random color combo. This is truly random and by no means follows any color theory. It's really just for fun, but you'll be surprised at the combos it spits out! You never know what you're going to get.

Here is the link

Hope you enjoy it what a great tool!

thanks for looking Virginia

Convention was a blast!

Wow convention was wonderful we saw so many wonderful things and here are some Photos that my friend Kelly Mayou took!I will post some of my images tomorrow I am working on very little sleep! Flew overnight from SLC and I didn't get much sleep.

The first picture up (taken by Kelly Mayou ) is a tip we learned at convention. Spencer Willis showed us that if you just spritz your paper before running it through the Big shot with the texture dies you will get a better impression. Here are two sheets of card stock and you can really see the difference. The one on the right was sent through with a spritz of water( I use rubbing alcohol because it dries faster) better impression than the one on the left!

Spencer told us that the Flower fold die was made to go inside the bitty box? I had no Idea, is that neat? It is so pretty when it comes out.

I love our new die cut notes. Spencer showed us that if you mess one up you can still use it as a stencil. and look what he did with it!

the front of the notebook is stenciled with the die cut note wowser huh?

Shelly always shows us the cutest things this was one of my favorites. She took our wide twill tape and and folded it in half stamped the fabric and all to create a tube for chap stick what a cute little gift!

Beautiful magnetic board! made by Shelly I will be making one of these

I have many more pictures to share with you and will be showing them to all this week!

Dress and a Great Bag!

This card is similar to one I made while back. I have been working on Punch swaps for convention and one of the cards I made uses a purse made from punches so why not put them together!

This card was very quick and easy to make because I used punches as well as sizzix dies. The purse is made from the designer label die and just folded at the top insert a brad and you have a fabulous clutch! To make the handle you take the smallest oval punch and cut a hole into DSP(designer series paper). Take the next size up oval and center over hole cut out and cut in half.

The dress is made with the largest Sizzix scallop die and Stampin' Ups great DSP. To cut out the dress I used a template I got here

Camilla (my mom's fav) Is done with the new flower fusion sizzlet and a clear rhinestone brad put it together with you favorite sentiment and there you go!

Paper Tea Party DSP, Whisper White, Pretty in pink
